Last modified: May 31, 2021

We tried to keep this policy as simple and legalese-free as possible to help you understand what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have about it. You should read this policy in full, but here’s a very brief summary with the key points we hope you take away from it:

  • We don’t sell your personal data to anyone. Never have, never will.

  • When you use our website, or app even if you aren’t logged in, we receive some personal information from you like the type of device you’re using and your IP address. You can choose to share additional information with us by creating an account. We use this information for improving our services and for keeping our website and mobile app functional and secure.

  • You are free to opt in and out of our newsletters, update your account details, or delete it entirely at any time. You can also ask us to give you a copy of the information you’ve submitted.

  • We use your answers to tests, and other tools to determine what content is relevant to you and to improve our understanding of personality traits. You’re completely free to decide which surveys to take and which tools to explore.

  • If you have any questions or comments regarding this policy, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

  • We do allow our advertising partners to collect certain device identifiers and electronic network activity via our Services to show ads that are targeted to your interests on other platforms. To opt out, you can adjust your mobile device settings to limit ad tracking via the mobile app.

This Privacy Policy explains how PersonalityTraitTest.com. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our website homepage or sending you a notification). We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

  • Usage Information: Whenever you use our Services, we collect usage information, such as the sessions you use, what screens or features you access, and other similar types of usage information.

  • Device Information: We collect information about the computer or mobile device you use to access our Services, including the hardware model, operating system and version, device identifiers set by your device operating system, and mobile network information (like your connection type, carrier and region).

  • Information Collected by Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies: We use different technologies to collect information, including cookies and web beacons.

Cookies
Most of the functionality on our website (such as viewing your personality test results or logging in) requires cookies. By using our website, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy.

We use “persistent” cookies on our website. Persistent cookies will remain stored on your device until deleted, or until they reach a specified expiry date.
We use cookies to enable our website to recognise you (as distinct from other users) when you visit and keep track of your preferences in relation to your use of our website.

We use Google Analytics to analyze the use of our website. These third party services may use cookies and other technologies to collect technical data on your behavior and your device (such as your device’s IP address or screen size). For further details, please see Google’s privacy policy. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time.

If we have an existing customer relationship with you (e.g., you have purchased something from us), we may also use Facebook Pixel to analyze the effectiveness of our Facebook ads. We cannot see your Facebook profile, or any other data you have shared with Facebook. You can opt out of Facebook advertising here.

Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, while some browsers allow you to reject just third party cookies. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites, including ours.

Information We Collect from Other Sources
We also obtain information about you from other sources, including transaction information from third-party app stores you use to install our app or purchase a subscription, and name and contact information from third-party calendar services. Additionally, if you create or log into your account through a social media service account, we will have access to certain information from that account, such as your name and other account information, in accordance with the authorization procedures set by that social media service.

Use of Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain and improve our Services, including debugging to identify and repair errors, and develop new products and service;
  • Process transactions and fulfill orders;
  • Send you transactional or relationship messages, such as receipts, account notifications, customer service responses, and other administrative messages;
  • Communicate with you about products, services, and events offered by PersonalityTraitTest and others, request feedback, and send news, gifts or other information we think will be of interest to you;
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our Services;
  • Detect, investigate and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities and protect the rights and property of PersonalityTraitTest and others, including to enforce our agreements and policies. If you feel your transaction was declined in error, please contact us for assistance at support@personalitytraittest.com;
  • Comply with the law, such as by processing transactional records for tax filings and other compliance activities;
  • Personalize your online experience and the advertisements you see on other platforms based on your preferences, interests, and browsing behavior; and
  • Facilitate contests, sweepstakes, and promotions and process and deliver entries and rewards.

In addition, we have a legitimate interest in maintaining our relationship with you, improving our website and services, and protecting both you and other users. Consequently, we use your information to:
    • conduct analytics on how you use our website in order to better understand your needs and to optimize our service and experience. For instance, by measuring the time you spend on a certain page before and after a design change, we can understand whether there’s anything we need to tweak. In order to do that, we use third party services, Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns (for example, how much time you spent reading your personality test results). If we have an existing customer relationship with you, we may also use Facebook Pixel to analyze the effectiveness of our Facebook ads. We’ve already mentioned these services in the Cookies section above.
  • This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. For example, we don’t make, and don’t allow Google to make, any attempt to match such information with personal data we hold about you.
    • improve our website and develop new functionality. For example, if the majority of respondents in one of our article say they’d like to learn more about dealing with a difficult colleague, we’ll certainly take that into account.
    • conduct internal analysis and scientific / statistical research to improve our services and understanding of personality traits. Even our own researchers only see data that cannot be connected back to any individually identifying information, and we only publish aggregate statistical data.

  • While our legitimate interests cover a lot of what we do, in the following circumstances other legal grounds apply to how we process your personal data:
    • where we expressly require consent from you for the processing in question;
    • where we provide services to you as a member – in which case we’ll have a contract with you for this and we’ll process your data in accordance with our contract with you (see our Terms and Conditions). In particular, our contract allows us to retain and delete data in ways which override certain rights you may otherwise have had if we were relying on consent or our legitimate interests for the data processing in question.
    • where another legal ground applies (which will be rare) – e.g., to protect your or another person’s vital interests, or where we’re required to process the information by law.
  • Finally, in addition to what we discussed above, we’ll only use your information with your consent:
    • to send you e-mail newsletters, if you’ve specifically agreed to receive them and confirmed that by clicking a link in the verification e-mail. You can unsubscribe from our newsletters at any time by clicking a link at the bottom of any message.

  • Please note you may withdraw your consent at any time.

  • Where you supply us with special category personal data we may also further process this data for research purposes – typically it will be anonymized so that it ceases to be personal data. In this case we’ll also rely on Article 9.2(j) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to the extent the processing of personal data is involved. We won’t provide your personal information to any third parties for the purpose of direct marketing by those parties.

We share information about you as follows and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:
  • With companies and contractors that perform services for us, including email service providers, payment processors, fraud prevention vendors and other service providers;

  • In response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law or legal process, including court order, subpoena, or other lawful requests by public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements;

  • In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company and

  • With your consent or at your direction. For instance, you may choose to share actions you take on our Services with third-party social media services via the integrated tools we provide via our Services.
We also share aggregated or other information not subject to obligations under the data protection laws of your jurisdiction with third parties. For example, we sometimes share aggregate information with research organizations to help facilitate their research.

These entities use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and other technologies to collect information about your use of the Services and other websites and online services, including your IP address, device identifiers, web browser, mobile network information, pages viewed, time spent on pages or in apps, links clicked, and conversion information.
